How to Spring Clean your Business

It’s Spring so cleaning tips are on everyone’s mind! Here I talk about how to do some simple yet effective strategies to get your business in tip-top shape with a Spring clean!

1. Clearing digital clutter.

If you’re like me then Inbox zero is your happy place.

Let’s just agree that life is better without things screaming at you left and right for your attention.

How do we get there?

    • Unsubscribe from emails you don’t read and just end up deleting as soon as they hit your Inbox. Thanks, West Elm for letting me know about your “sale” Every day. I can resubscribe when I’m thinking about a purchase. Kthxbye.
    • Turn off app notifications from your phone. When I did this is was pretty life-changing.
      • PRO TIP: You may want to leave on messaging notifications like What’s App, or We Chat so your friends and family doesn’t think you’re ignoring them.
    • Consider turning your phone to Airplane mode when you really need to focus. This may not be right for everyone, but a lot of calls these days are robocalls or some 1-800 number that is trying to sell you something.

2. Develop a Process… or ten.

I’m in the middle of developing processes. That isn’t just for big organizations that you work for. It’s for you too!

This year I developed a process of tracking leads. It’s been invaluable to see where my leads are coming from (mostly Instagram) so I know what is a good use of my time and energy. The tracking also allows me to follow up with them within a week or so I’m not missing out on business by sending a simple follow up email. Chances are, you have some emails in your Inbox you need to respond to that you haven’t gotten around to yet.

I also started a monthly workflow where I:

      • Review and reflect on what went tell
      • Do a Data back up – you may not need to do this, but I sell digital files.
      • Check analytics – Google, Pinterest, Social Media, etc.
      • Do a finance check-in
      • Do a website update – freshen up the portfolio images and blog links to the main homepage so I show fresh content

I’m currently working on a client onboarding system from inquiry to client sign off.

3, Goal Setting and Review

We’re at the end of the first quarter of the year. Did you set goals for yourself at the beginning of the year?

How are they going?

Make sure that the goals are measurable. For example, a goal to “be a successful entrepreneur” is a little too vague.

What does success look like to you?

It may and likely looks different to each person you ask. Does that mean clients that have a great experience with you that turn into evangelists about your service? Or a certain number in your bank account?

If it’s a lofty goal, did you break it down into smaller bite-sized pieces that are manageable/doable? Did you think about the in-between steps to between to get you between where you are now and where you want to be?
